Writer/Researcher day uno..

what is pointillism?
Started in the 1880's, Pointillism originated in Georges Seurat's painting technique, in which paint was applied to the canvas in dots of contrasting pigment. The technique relies on the ability of the eye and mind of the viewer to mix the color spots into a fuller range of tones. These dots are placed in patterns to create an image which is recognizable. The entire canvas covered with these dots, defines form. Pointillism creates a bigger, brighter picture because when two colors are next to each other, your eye mixes them. This is called optical mixing. It's considered to be very similar to Divisionism except Pointillism is more focused on the specific style of pen dot drawing used to apply colors whereas Divisionism is concerned with color theory. Pointillism is considered to have an influence on the art movement Fauvism.
